Man dies following crash in northwest Cedar Rapids

Cedar Rapids police said one person has died following a crash Wednesday night in Cedar Rapids.

It happened just before 7:10 p.m. in the 1600 block of Ellis Boulevard NW. When authorities got to the scene, they found a car crashed into a utility pole. There were downed power lines in the area, as well.

Police said an unresponsive 41-year-old man had to be extricated from the car before going to the hospital where he later died. His name is being withheld during the notification process.

An investigation into the crash continues, police said.
