ALTOONA, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) -- A car crash knocked out power to Adventureland Park, an Altoona-based theme park, for about two hours, company officials said Sunday afternoon.

"It seems a car accident down the street knocked out power to many places in the area," said Molly Vincent, with Adventureland. "MidAmerican Energy is working to transfer us over to another grid."

The outage happened sometime around 1:30 p.m. Power was originally expected to be restored after about 30 minutes but ended up taking more than two hours.

Park officials posted to Adventureland's Facebook page energy had been restored at about 3:45 p.m.

"We are going to get everything safety checked and tested before loading anything, but we are on our way," the post said. "Thank you for being patient!"

There were initial reports of some guests becoming stuck on park rides. One visitor said those on the Sky Ride, a gondola lift-styled conveyor, had to wait around 40 minutes to be retrieved by staff with the help of a generator.

Adventureland later posted to Facebook that all guests were on the ground.
