California moving up primary

WASHINGTON, D.C. (KCRG) -- The California presidential primary in 2020 will be much earlier than in years past. It's because the state wants to have a bigger impact on choosing the party nominees.

Traditionally, California has held its primary in June, often leaving the state with little impact. But now the state's moved up its primary to March 3 in 2020. And early voting can begin on February 3. That's the same day Iowa plans to hold its traditional first in the nation caucuses.

Now some analysts wonder if candidates might change their campaign schedules, which could affect Iowa's caucuses.
