Body found in vehicle damaged by fire in rural Johnson County

Officials are conducting an investigation after a body was discovered inside of a fire-damaged vehicle Friday.
Crews responded to a report of a burning vehicle in the 2900 block of 540th Street SW in rural Riverside at about 12:42 p.m. Friday. During the course of extinguishing the fire, emergency personnel discovered a body inside of the vehicle.
The Johnson County Sheriff's Office and Johnson County Medical Examiner are investigating. The cause of the fire is unknown and the identity of the victim is being withheld pending family notification.
No other information is being released at this time.
