Blum isn't sweating vulnerability ranking
Roll Call, a Washington D.C. news outlet, now lists Iowa Congressman Rod Blum as the most vulnerable House incumbent in this fall's election.
Blum is seeking re-election in Iowa's First Congressional District.
Four Democrats have lined up to challenge the Republican as he seeks a third term. Among them is Abby Finkenauer who out-raised Blum in campaign funds in the year's first quarter.
Blum said Friday, at an event in Cedar Rapids, he isn't sweating the vulnerability ranking. He pointed out he managed to win last time he was ranked as vulnerable in 2016.
"It's fun being number one," Blum said with a chuckle. "I'm the number one target again this time. It's nothing new. I don't get worked up about that kind of stuff. I spend almost all my time being a congressman."
Though President Donald Trump won Iowa's First District in 2016 by a narrow margin, Barack Obama had carried it by double digits in the two prior presidential elections.
