Beyond the Weather: Meteor showers in 2019

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - With the return of an active weather pattern back, the sky is not expected to have much in the way of clearing. This, of course, means locating the stars and planets is a real challenge. Instead, you can take the time to add the meteor showers for 2019 to the calendar.

Lyrid: April 23 – 10-20 meteors per hour

Eta Aquariid: May 6 – 20-60 meteors per hour

Delta Aquariid: July 29 – 20 meteors per hour

Perseid: August 13 – 90 meteors per hour

Orionid: October 22 – 10-20 meteors per hour

Southern Taurid: November 5 – 10-20 meteors per hour

Leonid: - November 18 – 10-20 meteors per hour

Geminid: December 14 – 100-120 meteors per hour

Ursid: December 23 – 10 meteors per hour
