Authorities identify the deceased after 'unattended death' in Marshalltown

MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (KCRG) -- Marshalltown Police are investigating after a body was discovered in the Marshall County community, Sunday morning.

According to a news release from authorities, officers headed to Center Cuts & More at 19 South Center Street after receiving a report of a body around 11:00 a.m.

"Ginger N. Carter, age 39, of Marshalltown has been identified as the deceased," said Police Chief Michael W. Tupper, in the release. "An autopsy has been scheduled for February 11."

Tupper said the cause and manner of death had yet to been determined and an investigation is ongoing. He said authorities believed there were no safety threats associated with the death.

The Marshall County Attorney’s Office, the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, and Marshall County Medical Examiner's Office were assisting with this investigation.
