CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - Law enforcement agencies around eastern Iowa on Wednesday were asking drivers, primarily of larger vehicles, to avoid gravel roads.

Rapidly melting snow and impending rain contributed to deteriorating conditions and hazardous travel areas, according to the sheriff's offices in Buchanan and Fayette counties.

Furthermore, drivers of all vehicles should use extreme caution while traversing gravel roads as conditions of the roads will continue to deteriorate, making travel hazardous in many areas," the Buchanan County Sheriff's Office said in a press release.
