Activist charged after burning LGBTQ-themed books

ORANGE CITY, Iowa (KCRG) - A man who made a Facebook Live video while burning books he borrowed from the Orange City Public Library has been charged.

Court documents say Paul Dorr, a Northwest Iowa Christian activist burned the books on October 19, the first day of the city's gay pride festival.

In the nearly 30-minute video, Dorr was seen burning the books "Two Boys Kissing," "This day in June," "Morris Micklewhite and the tangerine dress," and "Families, families, families."

Documents say Dorr checked out the four books on October 6.

He has been charged with 5th Degree Criminal Mischief, a simple misdemeanor.

Dorr's initial appearance is scheduled for January 22 at the Sioux County Courthouse.
