President Donald Trump signed the Supporting and Improving Rural EMS Needs (SIREN) Act of 2018 on Thursday.

The law by Congressman Loebsack and Gianforte reauthorizes a federal grant program to help rural areas and the EMS providers that serve their communities.

“Our rural EMS providers are the first line of care for Americans in more remote areas who face a medical emergency,” Gianforte said. “The SIREN Act provides access to resources so that EMS providers in our rural areas have the training and equipment they need to get the job done."

The SIREN Act will create $10 million in grants for EMS agencies in rural areas to address any issues they face, like recruitment and retention, education and training, buying updated equipment, and obtaining qualified medical oversight.

The Act was included in the 2018 Farm Bill that was passed Thursday.
