An industrial accident early this morning claimed the life of a 22-year-old man at a beef processing plant in Tama.

Tama Police reported a call to the Iowa Premium plant, 3337 L Avenue Tama, at 3:52 A.M. Wednesday morning.

When officers and firefighters arrived they found the man caught in some machinery. He was dead when rescuers arrived at the plant.

Police have not released an identity yet.

The Iowa Premium plant reopened in the fall of 2014 after new owners purchased a former meat packing facility that had closed. A spokesperson for Iowa Premium has not responded to calls yet for more information.
