VINTON,Iowa (KCRG-TV9)-- Salvation Army kettle ringers found a gold coin in a kettle outside of the Vinton Fareway grocery store that could be worth more than $1000. The Salvation Army says the 2013 gold piece is a U.S. coin with a face value of $50. They say some research on the shows it contains 1 once of gold and it could be worth much more. The person who dropped the coin in the kettle wanted volunteers to know that it wasn't a fake coin as they wrote the word "gold" on the coin in marker.
