20-year-old man critically hurt in Cedar Rapids shooting Tuesday night, police say

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - Cedar Rapids police said a 20-year-old man remains in critical condition following a shooting Tuesday night.

Around 6:10 p.m., authorities got a call about a shooting in the 1800 block of A Avenue NE.

Police said they found the victim inside a car near Franklin Middle School in the 300 block of 20th Street NE. From there, the man was taken to the hospital.

In a press release, authorities said they found shell casings in the alley of the 1800 block of A Avenue NE.

Police said the incident was not a random act.

An investigation is underway.
