John Campbell

He graduated from DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana and took a year of radio-TV graduate school at Indiana. Then, it was off to the real world.

John started at WBAY-TV in Green Bay in June of 1970. He was a news reporter and photographer for two years. Then he got his first big break. It was a chance to join the WBAY-TV sports department. Eight months later, he was named the sports director and remained in that position until June of 1979 when he accepted the position of sports director at KCRG-TV9.

Besides covering football, basketball, and baseball, John loves covering stories in the great outdoors. John has ridden and reported on RAGBRAI 17 different years and he was named Iowa Sportscaster of the year by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association.

John served as KCRG-TV9 Sports Director for more than 33 years, retiring in December 2012. John continues to contribute to KCRG-TV9 with "Big Ol' Fish" and other segments. John also contributes to sports broadcasts on KCRG 9.2.

John and his wife Mary have two grown children, but they stay busy at home with Bounder, an English Cream Golden Retriever.
