AMES, Iowa (KCRG) - Former Cyclone Emily Ryan will join the Iowa State women’s basketball coaching staff for the 2025-2026 season as a graduate assistant.

Ryan is one of the best point guards in ISU history. She set the program record for assists which ranks seventh all-time in NCAA women’s basketball history. She also holds top five marks in steals and blocks.

Through her five seasons, she helped ISU make five NCAA Tournaments.

“She’s kind of been coaching the team the last few years, while she’s been playing. She wants to be a coach. She loves Iowa State, she loves the game and the respect that she has in our locker room and from our fanbase, it was a natural thing. I‘m glad we could get it done,” Iowa State women’s basketball head coach Bill Fennelly said.
