Iowa man reels in giant sturgeon
STRAWBERRY POINT, Iowa (KCRG) - A man from Strawberry Point reeled in a very big catch while in Minnesota.
He caught a sturgeon weighing more than 100 pounds while on the Lake of the Woods in June.
The fish was 65 inches long, and 35 inches around.
Scott Clark battled the fish for half an hour, and duct taped the reel to the rod.
The duct tape held, so it was a matter of getting the sturgeon into the boat.
After one failed attempt and not having a big enough net, he used a rope instead.
“Now we got it in the boat, and now we’re all going holy Hannah,” Clark said. “I should have laid down on the floor next to show the size of it, but I didn’t think about that.”
Clark let the fish go, saying he wouldn’t keep a fish that big.
