ISLE OF PALMS, S.C. (WCSC/Gray News) - Police say six people were taken to a hospital Friday night after a shooting near an Isle of Palms beach in South Carolina.

The city of Isle of Palms says five of the six victims are recovering at home after being released from the hospital. City spokesperson Chaundra Mikell-Yudchenko confirmed that the only victim still in the hospital remains in “stable condition.”

Police say the shooting happened behind the Sea Cabins property on Oceans Boulevard around 5:20 p.m. Some of the victims had multiple gunshot wounds, according to Police Sgt. Matt Storen.

Two people were arrested following the shooting.

Shawn Alexander Martin-Goods, 18, was arrested and charged with unlawful carrying of a weapon. He was booked and later posted bond for $25,000. A juvenile whose name has not been released was also arrested and charged with unlawful carrying of a weapon and possession of a stolen firearm.

Police have not confirmed whether the two arrested were involved in the shooting. Storen confirmed others were detained on Friday but have since been released after talking with investigators.

Several weapons were also collected, but it’s not clear if any were actually used in the shooting.

Isle of Palms Police Chief Kevin Cornett says a total of six people were injured. Some of the victims had multiple gunshot wounds.

Four victims were taken to this hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

According to Cornett, there was a gathering involving high school students for “senior skip day” and most of the victims are believed to be in their teens.

At least one victim is an adult who was at the beach at the time of the shooting.

Police say there was no threat to the public after the incident.

Police are actively investigating the shooting and reviewing videos the public has sent in of the incident, according to Storen.
