CORALVILLE, Iowa (KCRG) - One of the men charged in a deadly shooting on Christmas Day in Coralville in 2019 is taking a plea deal.

Prosecutors originally charged Milton McAbee with first degree murder. But new court documents show he pleaded guilty to lesser charges, including voluntary manslaughter.

His sentencing is now set for December 3.

The shooting happened at an apartment complex in the 300 block of Boston Way, south of Coral Ridge Mall.

Police said Gregory Jackson died, and two others were hurt in the incident.

Court documents show McAbee admitted to shooting Jackson in retaliation for attacking his father just hours earlier.

McAbee’s brother, Elijah McAbee, is also charged in the shooting.
