Teagan Schaefer finds success on the course by keeping “Tater Tough” mentality

WILLIAMSBURG, Iowa (KCRG) -Williamsburg junior Teagan Schaefer has been through a lot this year, losing her best buddy and brother Tate to rare brain tumor called DIPG.

“We we’re super close.” Schaefer said. “He was always challenging me out here on the golf course, on the basketball court we were always going after each other. He was a pretty special guy.”

Even though Teagan was dealing with the pain of losing her brother, she showed that Tater tough spirit along with her teammates who dedicated this golf season to Tate.

“For a student of her age to go what she has been through and her family’s been through. The amount of maturity she is gained forcibly had to getting over that period of time,” said Williamsburg golf coach Todd Subbert.

“She has just been a rock for all of us and I think them to a lot of the community and her friends who are also struggling with losing Tate, to see her push on the way that he would want us to push on I think she is just an example for all of them to. said Teagan’s mother Darcy.

What a season it was, winning the WAMAC title the regional title in finishing fourth at the state golf tournament.
