DES MOINES, Iowa (KCCI) - When the Iowa Cubs have their first pitch next week, they hope to have a mobile vaccination clinic welcoming fans.

This comes as the state continues to look to bring clinics to large events.

The Iowa Cubs say they’re looking forward to playing a vital role in protecting people as they welcome fans safely into the stands.

“We want to fill the ballpark again before the summer is over,” said Randy Wehofer, the vice president of the Iowa Cubs. “And the best path to filling the ballpark is to get as many people to get vaccinated as possible. So if people are eager to come to ball games, and they haven’t been vaccinated yet, we want to make it easy for them to do that on-site.”

Opening day for the Cubs is Tuesday, May 4, when they play the Indianapolis Indians.
