CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - A mix of sun and clouds this afternoon with highs in the mid to upper 20s. We will stay quiet through tomorrow before an active day on Thursday.

Our next system brings the chance of a wintry mix, freezing rain, and snow throughout the entire day. Accumulating snow is possible, where the majority of eastern Iowa could see between 2-4″. This front will drop temperatures very quickly through the day and increase winds. Winds could gust up to 35mph and may cause blizzard conditions during the Thursday evening commute and slick roads.

Once the snow moves out, overnight lows will be well below zero through next week. Highs will be in the single digits as well. Wind chills will likely be colder than -30 as well. Make sure you have jumper cables in your vehicle, a full gas tank as well as proper attire should you become stranded.
