CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) -In a series of tweets, former Democratic Iowa Congresswoman Abby Finkenauer blamed republicans, and specifically Iowa republicans, for the rioting and chaos in Washington D.C. on Wednesday.

Holding nothing back, Finkenauer initially stated that “This is on every Republican & specifically looking at you, Iowa, who let the lies and falsehoods about our elections just continue to go on. You own this and it’s horrifying to watch.”

After stating that she’d been in contact with friends in Congress who were terrified about their safety, Finkenauer then directly blamed Senators Joni Ernst and Chuck Grassley, writing “you let this happen.”

She ten wrote she’d never forgive Ersnst, Grassley and Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds “for what they have done to our country & our democracy.”

Finkenauer then referred to the rioters as “terrorists” as she expressed horror at the news that they’d broken the barriers the Capitol police.

She the went on to describe the heartbreak she felt at seeing the door of the U.S. House being barricaded while law enforcement pointed guns at a mob of protesters trying to force their way into the House Chamber.

Finkenauer then took aim at Iowa GOP Chariman Jeff Kaufmann after he tweeted “We are the Party of law and order,” saying “You own this. You didn’t stand up to it. What the hell did you think was going to happen?!”

She later tweeted “Patriots. In every true sense of the word.” in response to Congressman James Clyburn’s tweet stating that “Tonight, Congress will continue the business of certifying the electoral college votes.”

But, notably, Finkenauer did not make any mention of republican Congresswoman Ashley Hinson, who beat Finkenauer in November’s election for her congressional seat in Iowa’s 1st District.
