Dubuque Hy-Vees donating to local families
DUBUQUE, Iowa (KCRG) - Hy-Vee stores in Dubuque have partnered with the Foundation for Dubuque Public Schools to collect non-perishable foods, hygiene products and other items to deliver to schools.
People can stop by their local Hy-Vee and purchase nonperishable or essential items which will be donated to families within the Dubuque school district.
Donors can put those items in a blue bin at customer service. They can also give a cash donation by giving the checkout clerk a provided small brown bag with the amount of the donation.
“The nice thing about working with Hy-Vee is it is a convenient way to give back and then the Foundation for Dubuque Public Schools is able to work with the staff in the schools and we know that it is going, the food and the items are going directly to the families that have the greatest need and that is what I enjoy about it because we know its getting to those families,” said Amy Unmacht, Executive Director for the Foundation for Dubuque Public Schools.
The partnership started in mid December and will go to January 15th.
