CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - Mall Santas will operate a bit differently in the age of COVID-19.

Lindale Mall in Cedar Rapids says Santa Claus will still appear starting November 27th through Christmas Eve but with some restrictions. Children will have to stay at a distance to tell Santa what they want for Christmas and get a photo. The mall is encouraging people to register in advance to ensure social distance.

The mall will also be offering virtual experiences with Santa this year, like a virtual gingerbread house building.

“Visits with Santa are such a nostalgic part of the holiday season for so many children and families in Cedar Rapids,” said Becky Eckley, General Manager at Lindale Mall. “We’re thrilled to be able to bring a bit of normalcy and holiday magic to our community, while keeping health and safety as our top priority.”
