Hy-Vee to provide snacks, beverages during storm clean up
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - Hy-Vee says it is making donations in the Cedar Rapids area following Monday’s storm.
The company says its ‘Healthy You Mobile’ and semi-trailers will be in the area to provide snacks and beverages as it navigates neighborhoods to help with recovery efforts. It will also make stops so people without power can charge their phones. The You Mobile will make stops around Cedar Rapids Thursday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The grocery chain is also partnering with HACAP for a contactless drive-thru giveaway. The giveaway is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at the Veterans Memorial Stadium in Cedar Rapids.
“The damage inflicted by this storm to our communities is unlike anything we’ve seen in a long time, as it cut such a wide path across the state and hit so many areas,” said Randy Edeker, chairman of the board, CEO and president of Hy-Vee. “The damage is especially severe in the Cedar Rapids area, and we want to do whatever we can to help those residents as they clean up their neighborhoods and begin the recovery process.”
