CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) -More than two-thirds of Benton County are still without power. That's according to leaders with Benton County Emergency Management.

Many people in Newhall in Benton County spent Wednesday clearing up downed trees and debris from their homes. A large tree is buried into a home after being uprooted.

Derek Counter has two collapsed trees around his home, and a caved in fence. He says he's happy his family is safe. Counter does worry about the people living in rural parts of Benton County.

“You know for the men and women that were home alone out on farmland and everything like that getting their house ripped apart and their roofs ripped off and everything,” said Counter. “It’s gotta be terrifying.”

Leaders say Anamosa still has power because they have their own electrical unity company for emergencies.
