CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - Alliant Energy says people who don’t have power yet could be waiting a while before it’s back.

Alliant has brought in crews from other states and says it has already restored power to nearly 75,000 customers. Mike Wagner, an Alliant spokesperson, said crews are working as swiftly as they can and they are asking for more patience.

“Something like putting a pole could take an hour or more, so when you have 4, 5,6 of them down, it takes lots of work,” Wagner said. “Also really thankful for customers, extremely patient, taking several days to get up and running, really thankful. Goal is to work as quickly and safely as we can to get everybody back on.”

As of 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday, 146,558 Alliant customers were still without power in Iowa.
