New technology, new equipment, a new look from the news team you know and trust ... KCRG-TV9 is now broadcasting local news in high definition!
 

Our nearly year-long project culminated in our first local newscast in high definition on Saturday. The project includes a newly outfitted studio with a state-of-the-art news set and a large, in-studio working weather lab for the KCRG-TV9 First Alert Storm Team. KCRG-TV9 Chief Meteorologist Joe Winters says numerous improvements will support KCRG-TV9's promise of weather safety, "We are investing resources where it matters the most. It’s about keeping our communities well-informed and safe.” The new studio also includes "KCRG-TV9 Touchpoint,” a 113 inch interactive touch screen. It will be used for weather and other interactive storytelling.  “KCRG-TV9 Touchpoint” is the largest interactive touch screen of its kind in the U.S.A. and third largest in the world.

KCRG-TV9 News Anchor Bruce Aune says, “This is an exciting time. We made this investment to deliver stories that matter to our viewers. You’ll notice some changes, but you’ll still see the same team you trust bringing you the best coverage every day."

New technology is also playing a key role in how KCRG-TV9 is gathering the news. Besides using new HD field cameras to gather the news, KCRG-TV9 can now take live news coverage right to the people using portable backpack units. Now we can broadcast from virtually anywhere we choose.

KCRG-TV9 also revealed a refreshed logo and station look with the launch of high definition. The update of the station graphics took some time because we wanted to stay true to the brand that our viewers recognize. Local focus groups helped us realize our 9 logo is unique, so we made sure it was the familiar center piece of our new look.
