We found Lucky as a stray cat, her back right leg had been badly injured (it looked as if it had been caught in an animal jaw trap). We took her to the vet, afraid that she would have to be put to sleep to end her suffering. The vet told us that she would be able to amputate her leg and she would be fine, if we were willing to keep her as our pet. She was such a sweet and friendly cat dispite her painful injury we decided we would keep her. The vet said that she was "one lucky cat". So, we named her Lucky and she has been a valued member of our family for 10 years now.
