What’s Your American Dream?

Is it simply the freedom to make your own decisions in life? Is it a good-paying job, your favorite collectible car or a well-appointed house? Is it helping others? Or is it something more philosophical, like the pride you feel just by being an American or the promise of U.S. citizenship?

We want to see your American dream. Whether it’s a photo, a story or a video -- or even all of the above -- show us your vision of America as we prepare for Independence Day.

Submit your photos today by clicking "Submit A Story", above.

Entries are being accepted through Saturday, July 3. We’ll feature your submissions all next week, and on July 4, we’ll randomly pick entrants to win prizes -- one “Iowa Flavor” cookbook with a $10 Biaggi’s gift card, or one of three “Home Front” books from The Gazette.

So tell us about your American dream – today!

To travel the world, but still have my wonderful house to come home too. Among a dozen other things: pay off my house, foster animals in need, take classes for cooking, nest egg for wedding. I like to keep busy.

Legalized marijuana. Less fatties ruining the world. Welfare leaches to get jobs. Once that all happens. Id like a pepsi and a nice car. That is all.

To open a Christian ranch where I will use abused horses to help abused children and juveniles involved with the juvenile justice system. So that they may understand and experience God's love and heal.

I am living my version of the American Dream. It may be simple and spartan, but, i have everything I need, some things that i want, everything is paid for, no debt. I'm able to put some away so i can set and acheive my goals.
