I agree with PapaBear with calling this a "cold air" funnel. They rarely touch the ground and are extremely small when and if they do touch the ground. Fun to watch.

Nope, this is scud. It looks like a funnel cloud, but it isn't rotating, and therefore it never causes any damage. They're pretty rare too!

Is that what is sometimes called a "cold" funnel? They appear every so often, and people get really freaked out by them. If my understanding is correct, they do very minimal damage if any if they touch the ground?

We saw this! It was amazing! Watched it rope and twist and hang. It would disappear and then, reappear. Very cool. Nice pic, Tim.
