This is my grandparents' house on 5th Street NW in Cedar Rapids. It was torn down on Wednesday, May 19th.

There are more home in flood zones that can be bought for cheap! It is sad to lose a home but when these people bought in a flood zone and new it and braged about getting a home cheap, well they desearve what they get.

My condolances to your family's home. It's a great thing to lose, just remember, it was built of wood and nails. You'll always have the memories, and you can build many more memories wherever you go. At least you got to choose to have it torn down

happened to my home also in Green Bay a few years ago...was amazed how fast it came down

Wow - I agree this is sad to watch. Someone's life and history and memories gone in 30 minutes... what a shame.

This is about the saddest thing I have ever seen. Just to see someones home demolished in 20 minutes!
