My friend lived in one of these appartments.
fire was caused of a candle.
no one was hurt.
a few pets were lost.
red cross was there to help in a instant.

fire destroyed pretty much the whole building, smoke fills the entire town i live about a mile from west charles mall and theres smoke right outside my door. my thoughts and prayers are with everyone living there.

I have been told its been burning sense 10pm and i left there at 3 and it was still on fire they kinda have it under control but they are trying to get it from spreading to the committee plaza which when i left it was really close to there

The people are getting help donations are already coming in. It took the many fire departments involved to get the fire undercontrol and places were doing what they could to ease all those involved. We are a small town coming together to help.

So sad to watch it burn. I remember going to Oelwein in late 70's as a kid to school shop at Conner's Dept Store...such good memories. Major salute to the firefighters, watching them was truly amazing. So glad no one was hurt - a true blessing.

i was there and it was tradgic my brother and sister and their mom lost all their stuff but im really glad everyone made it out safe but you should of seen like half the town was down there taking pics and it was crazy little kids out and stuff

my brother and wife was above the kirby store if it wasn't for his son calling on their cell phone i think they would of parished. i live in ga. used to live in Stanley thankful my brother made it out also.

There was a cat I believe n the 2 birds made it out those r the only animals I was told about.
