Nearly 100 City High students temporarily took over the First Avenue HyVee in Iowa City and performed an enormous choreographed dance on Saturday, February 13th. The dance was choreograped by City High senior Jill Stephenson. Seniors Susan Graves and Susanna Howard lead the dance. Dances like these are called Flash Mob Dances. There are some on YouTube and these inspired Susan and Susanna to do something like that in our own city. Five or six students started off the dance when the music began playing over the store's loudspeakers, with others joining in at specific points in the song. It kept going until all 100 students were performing the synchronized dance. The customers in HyVee seemed confused at first, then they all started taking out cameras and cell phones to record the event. At the end of the number, the huge crowd that had gathered rewarded the students with thunderous applause. Who knows where this energetic group may turn up next?
City High students rock Iowa City HyVee!
