This video was taken in northern Epworth, IA, during the first round of thunderstorms on Aug. 9. I am not sure how strong the winds are, but in comparison to a June 19th storm that tore through town with estimated 80mph winds, I would say these are stronger. Just down the street from where this video was taken, a mobile home was blown off its foundation, flipped over, and landed on a truck. At times, the camera was pointed in the direction of the mobile home but it was not caught on video on account of the extremely low visibilities during the height of the storm. Today, Aug. 10, National Weather Service meteorologists traveled to Epworth to determine whether the damage frou m this storm was caused by straightline winds or from a brief touchdown of a small tornado. I appologize for the lack of audio in this video, but the wind really could not be heard from inside the house and the only audio was random commentary from people inside.
