Lance Ryan and hundreds of others laced up their shoes on Saturday for the 2009 Linn County Start! Heart Walk at Kirkwood Community College. They braved the heat and dodged the raindrops to support the American Heart Association's mission to Create Hope, Inspire Change and Celebrate Success in the fight against cardiovascular disease and stroke, the nation's #1 and #3 killers.

Lance and 18 other participants received Super Star medals at the event for raising $500 or more for the AHA to fund awareness programs and research.
