Iowa City Girl Helps Local Animal Shelter

An Iowa City girl is going out of her way to help a local animal shelter. Rachel Podhajsky is 6 years old.

After a visit to The Black Hawk Wildlife project in Waterloo, she decided she wanted to donate to the center. So Rachel made a few arts and crafts to sell and is giving all the proceeds to the wildlife project. Rachel says she knows exactly how the money is going to help, "The animals if they get hurt they will not be hurt anymore."

Rachel says her favorite animal is a dog because she can keep it as a pet.

I just watched the clip with Grandma Monkey and we are so proud of you. I bet those animals just want to lick you to say "Thanks!" (But remember Grandma really doesn't like monkeys, so don't get her one from the shelter.)

Thank you, Rachel. What a wonderful gift you have given to the wild animals. I enjoyed your group coming to see me and if you ever want to stop in again, just give me a call. You have some wonderful role models with your Aunt Camp!
