A large cumulonimbus cloud is illuminated beautifully by the setting sun as seen from the parking lot at Noelridge Christian Church in Cedar Rapids at 8:20 PM, Monday, July 27, 2009. The storm system skirted north of the Cedar Rapids metropolitan area and passed eastward into northwest Illinois where it was located when this photo was taken. Severe thunderstorm warnings were occurring in Jo Daviess and Stephenson counties at this time.
