i grew up on a small chicken farm, and still am involved in the linn county fair's poultry show. this is one of the little babies hatched from our farm last year. as of now, we have 8 pet geese: Violet (named after my favorite peanut's character...sad thing is, we found out Violet is a he...), Lucy (same name, she's our oldest...about my age), buddy (our only commercial african goose), snowbelle (white male), our newest ones were rescued from a farm using them as training for hunting dogs. they're larry, moe, curly and shemp. they are all grey tolouse geese. Violet has always been my special baby, as i raised him from a gosling. he thought for a long time that i was his mother, and followed me all around the yard. then, our cat adopted him as well, and they played with each other for a long time. violet is still, at about 9 years old, QUITE the pet. he still will come up to the fence and beg for bread and take it from my hand. the funny thing is that he is very gentle and will not bite me, but he WILL bite my father. *LAUGH*
