A massive dark cloud developed right over Wellman and moved slowly east exhibiting a lot of rotation. As it moved to the east of the town, parts of the wall cloud pulsed downward, finally resulting in dust or cloud/moisture being swirled from the ground up into the lowest hanging part of the wall cloud. The storm continued to track along Highway 22 towards Kalona.
