This is video from April 20th, 2009, in downtown Cedar Rapids. Rain and sleet fell on and off on Monday.

That's funny, I checked with Joe Winters before I put it up, checking if it was sleet or hail (I'm not an expert!) But he says it's sleet.

It was sleet. I was standing in it when it happened. Not to mention the fact that I am EXTREMELY smart and handsome so I win.

hey lets all take joe winters job. look at the window...its raining.. looks like a chance of rain today. no other profession where you can be wrong so often and get paid. oh and I had 10 people ask me today if i saw the hail.. no one said sleet

Hail is made from water droplets getting cycled through the updraft of a thunderstorm until they are strong enough to fall out.Sleet is basically formed by rain passing through a layer of freezing air on its way to the ground and freezing.
