Ice Storm In Richmond, KY

Ice Storm In Richmond, KY

My brother John moved to Richmond, KY 5 years ago thinking that he was escaping from Iowa weather. This weather is definitely not what they are used to in his area. He has been out of power for 2 days now and has recieved no word of how long until power will be available again. I hope that John and his family is staying warm and things will be back to normal for them soon.

I am currently living in Richmond and just got power back around 7:00pm eastern time. We lost power around 11:00 eastern time on Tuesday. Luckily we have gas heat and gas water heater!

I have family living in Richmond. I didn't realize scope of damage until today. Lucky that my Aunt has a true landline phone where I could reach them. Uncle working for KU said could be as long as 2 weeks for power depending on where you live.

I used to live in Kentucky; I believe this one is worse than the 2003 Ice Storm. I know that Kentucky Utilities will work their hardest to get power back on ASAP. The last ice storm gave some lessons which they are putting to good use.
