Benton Development Group Announces
“Photos of Benton County” Contest
Prizes Offered for Best Images of County, Places and People
BENTON COUNTY – Benton County residents are being encouraged to share their photographic skills by taking pictures of people and places throughout the county.
Benton Development Group, the county’s economic development organization, announced the “Photos of Benton County” contest today. It is seeking images of people, places, events or other images that are unique to Benton County.
“Benton Development Group is in the business of promoting Benton County,” said Benton Development Group Executive Director Ranae Becker. “Whether we’re trying to attract businesses, residents or tourists, a picture of Benton County best conveys who and what we are. This is a chance for both professionals and amateurs, young and old, to record what they think is special about our county.”
The contest is open to all Benton County residents. There are three categories and cash prizes will be awarded for six winning photographs in these categories:
Adult amateur – 1st place, $50, 2nd place, $25
Adult professional – 1st place, $50, 2nd place, $25
Youth (under 18) – 1st place, $50, 2nd place, $25
The winning photos could include shots such as a favorite place, an event with people,
a landscape, building or anything else that would capture Benton County at its best. Photos must be taken within Benton County during the last 12 months. Only four entries per person. Winning photos will be chosen on the basis of creativity, photographic quality and a portrayal of a county asset. Submitted photos must be 5 x 7” size on either photo paper or CD. The deadline for entries is Thursday, October 23, 2008.
Winning photographs and a selection of other submitted photos will be displayed in a public area to be determined and contest winners will be announced November 3, 2008.
Entry forms and contest rules can be mailed to you by leaving your name, address, and phone number at 319-472-5545. You can also pick up the forms in person at any city library, city hall office, Cedar Valley Bank in Vinton, or Midwest Bank in Belle Plaine.
