Im sorry that the world has lost such a great person in Carrie Gilbert/McGill. My condolences go out to her Mom, Dad, Brother, Husband and her lovely Kids. Carrie you will be missed by all. Our prayers go out to the McGill and the Gilbert families.

These bad comments are just showing what the world is coming to. No wonder people feel the way the do with people saying bad things all the time. My prayers and thougths go out to both families.

cms says ... on Wednesday, Aug 20 at 1:33 PM

Kristi, no one was directly disrespecting the children. Children are innocent, for the most part. You're clearly missing the point. It is too bad they will be turned over to the state, but it's even worse the parent essentially chose to kill.

DD.LQ.CA says ... on Tuesday, Aug 19 at 10:15 AM

Celebrate the life of Carrie. She has given much to this World. Her unyielding spirit will go forward in her husband and children. Her friends (Jesup/Desert) are empowered by her tenacity. We are all for the better having had Carrie in our lives.

Coop says ... on Monday, Aug 18 at 2:34 PM

Look seriously, I mean that was my uncle driving the van and he had a serious medical condition so if all of you haters could please shut your mouths and leave your nasty comments elsewhere. I know children were cought in this accident I'm very..

Anonymous says ... on Sunday, Aug 17 at 10:21 PM

I'm sure that children are affected just as much as they would have been if they had been in the accident - there are 5 children that we know of who will be affected forever. I feel for the children of the van driver, but I do not feel for him.

Kristi Simpson says ... on Sunday, Aug 17 at 6:43 PM

To Stupid People and CMS: The only people who should be ashamed of themselves are those who cannot show a little respect for the two children left behind now with neither parent. They will end up in the hands of the state, that isn't fair either!

cms says ... on Sunday, Aug 17 at 11:38 AM

I think that any of you defending the driver of the van should be ashamed of yourselves. He took another life along with his, and for NO GOOD REASON. You are asking for us to show compassion... well, we're not going to say it's okay, because it isnt

friend of the van drivers son says ... on Saturday, Aug 16 at 4:12 PM

you people should be ashamed of your selves for being so mean of the van driver he is a very nice man and you should just be ashamed.

cousin of the van driver says ... on Saturday, Aug 16 at 4:06 PM

The van driver has heart problems and you people should show a little commpassion of it all.

stephanie says ... on Saturday, Aug 16 at 11:25 AM

i think we should all thank god that no children were in this accident, it's already a very horrible situation, but it would be much much more tragic if any children were killed. my thoughts go out to both families.

stupid people says ... on Saturday, Aug 16 at 4:57 AM

"Dont jump to conclusions" "wait until we know exactly what happened" Are you people really that FREAKIN STUPID???? Figure it out, the moron wanted to kill himself and take the life of another in the process. Jesus!!

oh my god says ... on Friday, Aug 15 at 8:17 PM

was there emts or police or firefighters there or what

anonymous says ... on Friday, Aug 15 at 5:04 PM

My daughter is best friends with the daughter of the man driving the van. He was very sick, an alcoholic, and nobody would have been able to stop him. His children are devastated, they are without both parents. Have some compassion for these children

westsider says ... on Friday, Aug 15 at 3:44 PM

For everyone who says he shouldn't have a drivers license wake up and smell the coffee, there are lots of people driving with medical problems far worse than his.Any one could have a problem at any time .you weren't in that van you don't know.

Kristi Simpson says ... on Friday, Aug 15 at 1:53 PM

The children of the man driving the van are old enough to read everything written here. Please if you cannot show any compassion for the driver of the van, at least show some sympathy for his chidren who just lost their father!

Kristi Simpson says ... on Friday, Aug 15 at 1:50 PM

I would very much like to say the driver of the van did have a family. He was the father of 2 young children who he had custody of due to their mother making poor choices.

Anonymous says ... on Friday, Aug 15 at 1:23 PM

Sorry Niece36, I feel for your loss but someone with so many "Health problems" that they didn't realize they were on the wrong side of the road should not have been driving. He killed an innocent person. I pray for that woman's family.

Rob says ... on Friday, Aug 15 at 12:27 PM

You really are a very ignorant person! Are you saying everyone with a medical condition shouldn't be driving? All involved need prayers and kindness not bashing!

My heart goes out to all involved with this, its so sad hearing that an innocent mother of 3 was killed, I would hope everyone could hold off judgement until more information is released.

JAIME says ... on Friday, Aug 15 at 7:01 AM

So sorry to hear you lost your uncle. You are right. People should know the facts before commenting.

niece36 says ... on Friday, Aug 15 at 6:12 AM

He was my uncle and has a history of many health problems. He is a father and his children are old enough to read these blogs. It was a terrible thing but please, we are all grieving for all involved!!! The horror of this reaches all of us!

KJ says ... on Friday, Aug 15 at 5:42 AM

To my understanding there have been multiple accidents on 380 with "wrong wway drivers" in this corridor - in fact one 2 1/2 years ago injured Carrie's husband and killed the woman driving the wrong way. My prayers are with all victims.

Anonymous says ... on Friday, Aug 15 at 3:45 AM

Loser hit it on the head.

JMH says ... on Thursday, Aug 14 at 11:32 PM

My prayers to ALL the families involved, especially Carrie's. Such a tragedy. I keep thinking it couldv'e been my husband. He works for same co. as the driver whose truck burned.

*^#* says ... on Thursday, Aug 14 at 10:44 PM

if he had a "medical condition" WHY WAS HE DRIVING. Driving is a prividge, not a right

2 caring families says ... on Thursday, Aug 14 at 10:35 PM

we all know how hard it is to lose someone you really care about. all you can do is make the best of what you can remember.share the good times and keep them in your hearts forever. to the children and their families may god be with you all

Amy says ... on Thursday, Aug 14 at 10:26 PM

Until we all know WHY the driver of the van was not in his own lane, lets not cast stones. This may have been a medical condition.

anonymous says ... on Thursday, Aug 14 at 9:15 PM

The driver of the van was an alcoholic for at least 30 years. It's unknown whether he was drunk at the time of the accident but an investigation of his whereabouts earlier in the day may uncover that information if forensics cannot.

Krystal says ... on Thursday, Aug 14 at 8:42 PM

Please don't be angry at the person driving the van in the wrong way. I don't think we still know exactly what happened so maybe we can't exactly blame that person. But keep in mind they had a family too who will miss them, as well as missing Carrie.

pat says ... on Thursday, Aug 14 at 7:14 PM

We need to stop being so judgemental. There is an old saying don't judge the Indian until you walk in their shoes. We don't know what happened to this driver. Have compassion and understanding with our fellow person. May God Bless the family th

AVW1965 says ... on Thursday, Aug 14 at 7:06 PM

John says ... on Thursday, Aug 14 at 6:42 PM

I feel bad for all the people and families involved in this accident. I drove by the scene around 8:30 and my heart sank. To the few of you that are speculating suicide, even if it was then think of his family as well please. Everyone is in mourning.

Anonymous says ... on Thursday, Aug 14 at 5:56 PM

Prayers to the families involved. This is such a sad thing that has happpened, however, another angel is now watching over the families of Carrie.

cct says ... on Thursday, Aug 14 at 5:21 PM

This is so sad. there needs to be compassion....many prayers for ALL the families involved.

Tara says ... on Thursday, Aug 14 at 4:44 PM

Please people have some compassion. It could have easily been someone you know and then maybe you wouldn't be so quick to point fingers at someone. Why does everything bad that happens have to be the fault of someone else. Instead prayforthe families

Me says ... on Thursday, Aug 14 at 4:23 PM

My thoughts & prayers go out to everyone involved & their family and friends. Carrie was a great person and we at work will miss her greatly

KATHY says ... on Thursday, Aug 14 at 3:50 PM

Maybe you people shouldn't be jumping to speculation as to what happened and saying such hurtful things. Maybe the guy in the van had a family too that is grieving every bit as much as Carrie's family. This is why these comment boxes are a very bad

tina says ... on Thursday, Aug 14 at 1:43 PM

My heart goes out to the car's driver 's husband and children.....what a disgustingly horrible way to go----If it was a suicide, which may just be speculation, what kind of a coward would not just take his own life without taking an innocent victim?

Loser! says ... on Thursday, Aug 14 at 1:23 PM

What a loser! People like that make me sick! He is an idiot that live the life of an idiot and died as an idiot. He is so stupid that he probably lost his license mutliple times. Now he is taking it out on the rest of us. What a loser!

JAIME says ... on Thursday, Aug 14 at 1:18 PM

If it was a suicide, then why not take your own life. Did it make the driver secure knowing he/she wasn't alone? So sorry to hear Carrie left a family behind.

#@()'##)( reply... says ... on Thursday, Aug 14 at 1:13 PM

As far as we know the driver of the van had a medical condition which caused the driver to be in a confused state of mind...don't be stupid and say you are happy the driver of the van died. You are a very uncaring person!

DonnaP says ... on Thursday, Aug 14 at 12:53 PM

I saw the van on my way into work. Several of us pulled off to the right side and waved at the driver but he didn't seem to pay attention. What a very sad day. Everyone who knows Carrie will miss her. God be with her husband and children.

#@()*##)( says ... on Thursday, Aug 14 at 12:45 PM

35 year old mother of two-at least the driver of the van was one of the people killed

cms says ... on Thursday, Aug 14 at 12:35 PM

My dad was in the accident, and I'm thankful he's okay. Apparently the driver of the van was going North in the Southbound lane at around 90mph, so that was probably a suicide. I really cannot fathom why anyone would take the life of another.

Rachel says ... on Thursday, Aug 14 at 12:33 PM

I feel very remorseful for the families involved whom lost a very important part of their lives today. I am however disgusted that pictures of it are plastered here as if it isn't bad enough for them to have lost a loved one. Show some compassion.

Old Guy says ... on Thursday, Aug 14 at 12:14 PM

My prayers are with the families of all involved. this was a sad story. God Bless
