Every spring and fall white pelicans spend time in Eastern Iowa. I spent a weekend observing them driving fish into a cove and gorging themselves. They would fly to an area near the causeway where Mehafey Bridge road crosses the lake then spread out the width of the lake and drive the fish down to the small cove near Hillbilly Hill where they went into a feeding frenzy. Then they would repeat the behavior. It was like watching a National Geographic special.
