Driving into Marion on Hwy 151

Clouds to Keep an eye On

Just before 8 a.m. on Friday, June 27 I was driving into Marion on westbound Highway 151. As I come over a rise near the Culver's Greenhouse, I saw the first long, low-slung clound formation and snapped a picture with my Blackberry. My first thought was "wall cloud" when I snapped the picture, but there wasn't any visible rolling or rotation.

Just a couple minutes down the road, I was on the Marion Bypass. The South end of the first cloud was now darkening and a large portion was starting to drop, so I snapped another picture. The key thing again was, (thankfully) no visible rotation. I passed under the low cloud when turning south onto East Post Road. I was interesting to watch and I'm glad nothing became of it.
