Red-winged Blackbird at the Indian Creek Nature Center

Viewing signs of spring in Iowa

I was taking a stroll on the path at the Indian Creek Nature Center's Paul and Sigrund Lynch Wetland, while familiarizing myself with my new digital single lens reflex camera. The Red-winged Blackbirds, recently returned to Iowa, were in abundance. I snapped this photo of a male; visual interest is enhanced by the reflection behind him of the small windmill used to provide aeration in the pond.
