I'm in North Liberty, at at the company I work for (in Cedar Rapids) there's one working in sales/marketing too. Sometimes I hear people speak Dutch at the mall too (foreign guests from Quaker last time around).

Hallo, waar zijn de Nederlanders hier in Cedar Rapids, Marion, Coralville, Iowa City omgeving? Ik heb er nog geen een ontmoet!

Wim says ... on Wednesday, Jun 18 at 10:50 AM

Hard to make out some of it, but basically the headline reads: "Car dips head under water", while the article states that the water levels in Cedar Rapids are lowering after the flooding and that about 27000 people are displaced by it.

Wish I knew how to read the language of Holland, I think it would be interesting to know exactly what the article says...

Thanks! says ... on Tuesday, Jun 17 at 12:26 PM

Thank you, Edwin, for your generosity. My mother in law has now lived through the floods of 53, 93, and 08. We were in KC in 93 and I lost my house and then moved and lost all my possessions in the basement of that place. Thanks and God Bless!

You have great sympathy from Holland. Iowa helped us during major floods in 1953 and I am returning the favor, now living in Coralville! We took in two evacuees and help where we can.
