Channel: Flood of 2008

Location: Cedar Rapids, IA

These are images taken of the worst of the flooding on June 12th, 2008. The river crested the very next day. I can only hope that this documentation of these awful events will help generations to come understand the magnitude of this destruction.

So were you the one who stopped on I-380 5-in-1 dam to snap pictures causing massive headaches for all those that HAD to use this route as the only available crossing for the Cedar River for essential needs?

No she was not one of the ones that was stopped on the bridge. She was taking pics out the window as I was driving us home.

Thank-You for the pics. I also believe in years to come they will be helpful to many generations. It's too bad that some feel the need to spew venom at a time like this.

I grew up in Iowa. I am currently living on the west coast and really appreciate the great pics. For those of you so worried about getting a little delayed on your needful execursion..now is a time for kindness not rudeness.

I was one of the daily commuters. Didnt really care that I was late, it was all understood. The best photos came from the people, not the media. If you cannot take a picture while it is happening, then when do you? Thank you for the photos.

My dad's barber shop is in Time Check, he wants to stay. The building is on the edge in the 100 year flood plain. He wants to get back at fixing it up. We have it gutted it already. His idea of what needs to be done seems to make sense to me.
