This is a double rainbow after the severe storm Saturday night. (South of West Branch)

Beauty After the Storm

After long dreary days of flooding in the surrounding area, West Branch had a little storm of their own. Saturday evening around six o'clock severe weather was nearing. It started out with rumbling in the sky and then it hit, and hit hard and fast. Rain was pouring straight down with giant drops. About ten minutes into the storm wind picked up and you could see trees twisting and it was time to go to the basement and a safe spot. Even though it didn't last long it had one heck of an aftermath. Farmers bins were picked up and tossed across fields and bent out of shape. Tin off of roofs were missing and were found hundreds of feet away. Also hail was beat down on the area but was not bad enough to bring any damage. The most annoying part of the aftermath was the hundreds of tree branches tossed across peoples' yards. It was confirmed as a tornado about a half of an hour after the storm ceased. Even though the storm brought a lot of bad it also brought beauty through nature. A double rainbow was sighted after the rain slowed down in speed also the dark and gloomy clouds seen just moments before were gone and the sun shone with beauty. It did bring some fields to have standing water but it is nothing compared to what happened to the surrounding area of West Branch Iowa.
